Founder and Managing Partner Kenneth Jones was accompanied by Paul Klick, Managing Director of Outcome Capital Inc., Brian Price of Incident Communication Solutions and John DuFour, Executive Vice President, Financial Services Division of TDEC on Fusion’s corporate team. “We were absolutely thrilled to be a sponsor again this year and we are proud to have had a long standing relationship with GANTECH,” says Jones. “Some really great people!”

Despite rainy weather, this year’s tournament raised more than $5,000 for Our Military Kids Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides support and recognition to children of deployed National Guard and Reserve service members and wounded and fallen warriors through grants that pay for fees associated with athletic, fine arts and tutoring programs. These programs help relieve the stress military children suffer from parental separation by keeping them engaged in activities that provide positive distraction, minimize emotional destabilization, build self-esteem and enable academic achievement.

Last year, GANTECH raised more than $5,000 for the Bright Minds Foundation at their 8th Annual Partners in Technology Charity Golf Tournament.

The tournament concluded with an awards ceremony, cocktails and a celebratory dinner. Prizes included a Samsung 55-inch HD TV, Macbook Pro, iPad and Ravens versus Patriots tickets among other monetary awards for Longest Drive, Mulligan Bags and a putting contest. While Team Fusion did not walk away with any placement or prizes, Jones vowed to work on his golf game to prepare for next year’s tournament.

Fusion Ventures LLC holds another successful Business Model Canvas session, helping Dr. Monte Harris of The Center for Aesthetic Modernism pinpoint his long-term business goals

Gaithersburg, MD, June 26, 2013 Managing Partner of Fusion Ventures LLC Ken Jones, along with his staff and a select group of guests, held a Business Model Canvas session on Monday at Gaithersburg’s Marriott Washingtonian Center in order to help Bethesda Plastic Surgeon Dr. Monte Harris fine tune his business objectives for what will eventually be The Center for Aesthetic Modernism’s Life Sanctum.

Utilizing more than a decade in business strategy experience, Jones helped refine and funnel streams of information and dialogue elicited by the discussion to define significant priorities for

Dr. Harris’ Life Sanctum vision. “I was overwhelmed and energized by the talent and knowledge that was amassed,” says guest and Freelance Writer Linda Flournoy, “and I soaked it up like a thirsty sponge!”

Along with Flourney, guest participants included Denise Rainey of Rainmakers Solutions Inc., African Ancestry Inc. President Gina Paige, Marie Johns, a retired president and CEO for Verizon and former deputy administrator for the SBA, and Robin Smiles, a writer and editor in the field of education and non-profit organizations.

The meeting began with Dr. Harris explaining his concept of unifying beauty, health and identity with an emphasis on Afrocentric consciousness as a treatment plan for African American women seeking hair restoration, rhinoplasty or other cosmetic rejuvenation services. “In the current state, there is a misalignment between these three concepts,” he explains. “One objective is for a ‘curator’ to bring a new 21st century well-being team to counteract the current misalignment.”

After listening to Dr. Harris’ presentation, Jones remarked that

he actually heard five potential business models. “The poignant question is: which is the one we need to focus on?” says Jones. “The power of the Business Model Canvas is that it works to provide the answer.”

This session was the first in what will be several steps including more Business Model Canvas meetings as the business’ value proposition continues to evolve. “Today achieved the goal of providing focus for a more targeted Business Model canvas,” says Dr. Harris. “I feel like we are on the right track.”

Certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Harris is a recognized authority in comprehensive cosmetic facial rejuvenation and is sought by patients around the world for his culturally sensitive approach to rhinoplasty and hair restoration. His practice, The Center for Aesthetic Modernism is dedicated to nurturing the "whole person" through a celebration of beauty, spirituality and culture.

What is now becoming a Fusion trademark, the Business Model Canvas, created by Alexander Osterwalder, is a strategic management template for developing new or documenting existing business models. A visual chart with elements that describe a firm”s value proposition, infrastructure, customers and finances, it assists firms in aligning their activities by illustrating potential trade-offs. Defining or redefining the business’ value proposition component on the canvas

Fusion Ventures, LLC

Fusion Ventures, LLC will officially launch its Venture Acceleration Model on March 23 in coordination with the 15th Annual Children’s Inn at NIH Gala, "A Night for the Children".

Founded in 2009 by Kenneth Jones, Fusion Ventures, LLC provides small business growth services under

performance-based partnership agreements to clients from the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Perfected over the past three years, the Venture Acceleration Model, an innovation of Jones’, now has a proven track record of success and is ready to go mainstream.

Jones, who was a business strategy consultant

for more than 10 years with Booz Allen Hamilton, a leading provider of management and technology consulting services, was inspired to reinvent traditional consulting methods in order to help small businesses achieve greater success at an accelerated rate. Fusion Ventures differs from conventional consulting firms because of its partnership approach and performance-based compensation structure; Fusion only succeeds when its clients achieve their growth goals. By ensuring that “we win when you win”, the Venture Acceleration Model encourages a true partnership between Fusion and its clients.

Model, Fusion’s first step is to measure the value of the firm based on current strategy, and from there to develop a strategic roadmap that increases that firm’s value by working with the firm’s owners and providing on-site C-level management. Using a comprehensive approach, Fusion’s goal is to double the firm’s value in the first, early stages of the partnership. Through performance-based compensation, Fusion only receives a return on its investment when the client succeeds.

Having signed on with Fusion and implementing the Venture Acceleration Model, a handful of businesses are now reaping the benefit of astronomical growth they would not have enjoyed otherwise. “The Fusion partnership provided me the same benefits that I would have gained from an equity partner, but without having to relinquish management control of my firm,” says Roger Echeandia, Managing Director TIC Security, LLC.

According to Jones now that the model has proven itself repeatedly, it is time for an official launch. “For the past three years, we’ve been testing different approaches, seeing what works and taking out what didn’t,” explains Jones. “Now, we are at a point where our future clients and partners get all the benefits without any of the experimentation.”

During his years at Booz Allen, Jones along with his wife, Min, volunteered at the Children’s Inn at NIH assisting with the Family Dinners program. “I always like their events very much and always like donating my time,” says Jones. “I meant to circle back to them when I started Fusion, but during these first few years, I had no extra time to give.”

Jones was introduced to the charity through Booz Allen Partner Susan Penfield who was on The Children’s Inn Board of Directors. The Children’s Inn is a privately funded residence that offers a family-centered environment for children who are being treated for life-threatening illnesses and debilitating conditions at the NIH.

says he not only enjoyed volunteering for the charity, but also as a father of four children, the gravity of what The Children’s Inn provides has an even greater personal impact. “I realize how important it is,” says Jones, “what they are doing for the kids and

the families, and I am even more invigorated to get reengaged.”

Sponsored by AFCEA Bethesda since 1999, “A Night for the Children” has grown to become one of the most important fundraising events of the year for The Children’s Inn, bringing in more than $5 million to date.

Jones decided to launch Fusion’s new service at this event because the Gala is a celebration of the efforts of AFCEA Bethesda’s success in helping The Children’s Inn and it exemplifies the power of hands-on partnerships to create tremendous success for the entire community.

“This is a time for us to celebrate the model that we have created,” says Jones. “It wasn’t without its trials and tribulations, but now we’ve reached a point where it’s understood what our gift to this area is and time to celebrate around the good they are doing and the good we are doing.”

Fusion Ventures is sponsoring a table at the gala along with new client-partner Rainmakers’ Solutions of Windsor, MD. Starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Wardman Park Marriott, Washington DC, the black-tie event runs until midnight and includes a raffle and silent auction.

Why contract a performance based CFO?

It’s a deceptively simple question. Why would a business owner choose to hire an interim Chief Financial Officer when there are so many other options when it comes to laying the groundwork to supersize their company?

Does your company need a boost?

In our experience, the obstacles holding back services-based companies in the DC metro area are more rooted in past decisions than either present events or market dynamics. Management tends to fix their gaze almost solely on the external environment (sales opportunities, potential partnerships, etc), as if more precise market projections will provide the organization with a new identity.
